Obituary

Winona C. Enyard, age 63, of Sioux City passed away on Tuesday March 4, 2014 at her residence under the care of her loving family and Hospice of Siouxland.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday March 7, 2014 at the Community Center in Santee, Nebraska with interment following in Holy Faith Cemetery in Lindy, Nebraska. Visitation will begin at 4:00 pm on Wednesday at St. Paul’s Indian Mission and continue until 10:00 am on Thursday, when she will be transported to Santee, where visitation will begin at 1:00 pm and continue until service time. Sioux City arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service and Santee arrangements are under the direction of the Santee Sioux Tribe Wake and Burial Service.

Winona was born in Santee, Nebraska on June 19, 1950, the daughter of Rudolph and Edith (LaPointe) Thomas. She attended St. Mary’s Girls School in Springfield, South Dakota, then attended and graduated from Niobrara Community Schools. She then attended Metro Technical College in Omaha, Nebraska where she studied business. She worked at various temporary agencies and also worked in several different manufacturing-telemarketing positions before moving to Sioux City in 2009.

Winona, loved spending time with all of her family, and lending a helping hand to all of her friends and family whenever possible. She loved caring for her grandchildren.

She is survived by her sons: Elias Enyard, and Errell Enyard Jr. both of Sioux City, her daughters: Erinn Thomas of Sioux City, Erika Tommie of Hollywood, Florida, E’nyah Enyard of Sioux City. She is also survived by her brothers Carl Thomas, Rodney, Harlan, and Wyatt all of Santee, her grandchildren: LaKeesha, TaNeesha, J.J., Elon, Marcelis, K.J., and Kobe, and her five great-grandchildren.

Winona was preceded in death by her parents, her son: Errell ”Boo” Enyard, brothers: Merle Gene Thomas, and Rudolph “Tudy” Thomas Jr. and a sister Gloria Fuller.
