Willie Mack Steele, 44, of Sioux City Iowa passed away October 3rd, 2024. There will be a private viewing for immediate family only and a celebration of Life will be Saturday, October 12th at 1:00pm at Tav on the Ave.
Willie worked for Security National Bank as a maintenance mechanic and was well liked by all his fellow coworkers. Willie enjoyed anything that was sports related and loved building and working with his hands. He was extremely talented and could create any ideas that his family would throw at him. People would gravitate toward him because of his easy-going nature.
Willie was very competitive in all aspects of his life, whether that be claiming to be the “Foot Race Champion” to his kids or knowing more about any subject than his wife. Willie also enjoyed camping with his family and friends where he quickly turned into the campground chef. He loved cooking and creating new recipes and just simply “throwing it all together”. Everyone will miss him pulling out his phone and reading his saved dad jokes.
Willie and his father Kerry, shared much of the same likes and dislikes including anything mechanical, talking about their projects, and anything food related. Willie and his mom Cathy always shared the same love for the ocean and Indian corn soup.
Willie met his wife Melissa (Mayo) Steele when they were 16 years old in 1996. They were complete opposites since Willie was quiet and reserved and well…Melissa not so much. In November 1998 they were married but were blessed with their first child in November 1997. They have been rarely apart since then. Together they created a beautiful family and had three children which were lucky enough to inherit his competitive nature. Haley (26), Eric “Bubba” (24), and Brenna (21) who are going to miss calling him to fix anything they need and talk about all the Tik Toks that he would send them. His wife, Melissa who is going to miss just hearing his voice and him always trying to hold her hand.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife Melissa, his children: Haley Steele (Jordan Shahrikian) of South Beloit, IL, Eric Steele of Sioux City, IA and Brenna Steele of Sioux City, IA. His parents Kerry and Cathy (Angerman) Steele. His brothers Quentin Steele of Sioux City, IA and Jedidiah (Amy) Steele of Sioux City, IA. A niece Emma Steele and a nephew Cash Steele. Lots of Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
With two very special cousins who turned into his closest friends. Cammy and Tom Cother. Their children and grandchildren also held a very special place in “Uncle Lillie’s” heart.
He was preceded in death by his brother Samuel Adam Steele. His Maternal and Paternal grandparents and numerous aunts and uncles.
Willie will be tremendously missed by his family who will never let his bright light stop shining. Willie and Melissa will always be connected by the love they shared for each other.
