William "Tim" Geveshausen

William Timothy “Tim” Geveshausen, of Sioux City, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, at the age of 69, surrounded by loved ones in the comfort of his home.

William was born on December 2, 1956, in Sioux City, Iowa, to William Lyle Geveshausen and Romayne “Sue” Sandahl. He attended Sioux City East High School and later earned his GED in 1975.

Throughout his life, William held several jobs. His last employment was with the City of Sioux City, where he worked for several years in the Sewer Division. Known to his coworkers as “Gavy,” he was well liked by those he worked with. He retired in 2000 due to his lifelong struggle with muscular dystrophy, which ultimately claimed his life.

In his younger years, William enjoyed riding his motorcycle across the country and spending as much time outdoors as possible. He was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, the Chicago Bears, and NASCAR.

He is survived by his mother, Romayne “Sue” Meier and her husband, Everett, of Seneca, South Carolina; two sisters, Pam (David) Schell of Belton, South Carolina, and Penny (Larry) Wichers of Seneca, South Carolina; and his four children, Timothy (Tiffany) Geveshausen of Rosemount, Minnesota; Kyle (Anna) Geveshausen of Le Mars, Iowa; Jessica Lewis and her partner Corey of Sioux City, Iowa; and Heather Geveshausen of Sioux City, Iowa.

He is also survived by his ten grandchildren, whom he loved more than anything: Jaxon Geveshausen, Mackinsey Woudstra, Jakob Geveshausen, Kira Geveshausen, Alex Woudstra, Ara Geveshausen, Harley Lewis, William “Liam” Geveshausen, Lincoln Lewis, and Evan Geveshausen.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Lyle Geveshausen.

In honor of William’s wishes, he will be cremated. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 27th, in Sioux City, Iowa. Further details will be announced.
