William Donald Strawn, age 59, of Sioux City passed away on Tuesday May 7, 2013 at his residence under the care of Hospice, surrounded by his loving family.
Services will be held on Saturday May 11, 2013 at 10:30 am at Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff with Father Craig Collison officiating. Inunrnment will be held at a later date. Bill was born in Sioux City on May 26, 1953, the son of James M. and Margaret (Katzenberger) Strawn. He graduated from Bishop Heelan High School with the class of 1972. He was united in marriage with Dale Guillaume on April 27, 1974 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sioux City.
Bill worked as a brick layer for six years before he began a 30 year career with John Morrell and Company in Sioux City. Following the closure of the plant, he began working at Applied Industrial Technologies.
He enjoyed camping, boating, was a fan of NASCAR, and enjoyed all the time he could spend with his family, friends and his dog Sunday
He is survived by his wife Dale of Sioux City, his sons: Jason and his wife LaVelle of Sioux City, and Jacob and his wife Bethany of McCook Lake, South Dakota, his daughters: Jennifer and her lifetime partner Christopher Bray of Sioux City, and Jamie Strawn and her significant other Troy Weis of Sioux City. His father James of Sioux City, brothers: Robert and his wife Julia of Manhattan, Kansas, and Gerald of Pinson, Alabama and sisters Mary Marquardt and husband Larry of Clive, Iowa and Jeannie Evers and her husband Kirk of Lawton. He is also survived by his six grandchildren:Shannon Bray and his girlfriend Hailey Collins, Dominik Strawn, Dylan Strawn, Benjamin Strawn, Chloe Strawn, and Savannah Strawn and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
