William 'Bill' Olasz, 86, of Moville, Iowa died Thursday, October 2, 2025, in Sioux City. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  Waterbury Funeral service is assisting the family with arrangements.

William 'Bill' was born October 21, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan the son of Joseph and Mary (Horvath) Olasz. He grew up in Dearborn where he attended school and graduated from Dearborn High School. Bill continued his education at University of Michigan, receiving a degree in Chemistry. He joined the Army and served during the Cubin Missile Crisis. Over the years, Bill worked as a chemist and retired from Crest Industries in Michigan.

Bill loved his cats. He also enjoyed shooting sports including shooting leagues. Bill was always finding new interests.

Survivors include his wife, Karen; daughter, Sarah (Mark) Sanford; grandson, Bo Sanford; sister, Esther Kraai; niece, Laura Debrin, and two nephews, Ron Kraai and Dan (Jennifer) Kraai.

He in preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, John and Marilyn.
