William M. "Bill" Lourens, Jr., 70, of Sioux City, passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2017. Services will be held 10:30 am, Monday, August 21, 2017 at Church of the Nativity Catholic Church with Rev. Brad Pelzel officiating. A visitation will be held from 5-8 with family present from 6-8 and a vigil service at 7:00 pm, Sunday, August 20, 2017 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery following the services, with military honors.
Bill was born on August 9, 1947 in Sioux City, the son of William and Marie (Miller) Lourens, Sr. He graduated from East High School in 1966. Bill married Judith Carr on September 24, 1966. Bill joined the United States Army in January of 1967 and was honorably discharged in December of 1969.
Bill worked as a pipe fitter for fifteen years, he then worked for Mid American Energy in fleet mechanics for over thirty years, retiring in 2012.
Family was very important to Bill, spending as much time as possible with them, especially with his grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, old cars, and going on trips. Bill and Judy spent many summers at Lake Okoboji and winters at Lake Havasu, Arizona. Bill was a member of Cha Hee Tah Bowhunters Club, Strollers Car Club, and Church of the Nativity.
Survivors include his wife, Judy; son, Troy (Amber) of Lawton and Travis (Candy) of Lee's Summit, MO; brothers, Doug (Donna) of Sioux City and Roger (Laurie) of Devils Lake, ND; and grandchildren, Kaisha, Reid, Bailey, and Riley.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents.
