William "Bill" Arthur Stephens

William Arthur ‘Bill’ Stephens, 80, of Sioux City, IA passed away Monday, April 20th, 2026, at Accura Healthcare Nursing Home in Le Mars, IA. A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, May 4, 2026, 4pm-7pm at Waterbury Funeral Service, 4125 Orleans Ave, Sioux City, IA.

Bill was born June 25th, 1945, in Ainsworth, NE, to Gaius and Ethel (Whitlock) Stephens.

He attended high school at Central High in Sioux City, IA and graduated in 1964. He then went on to serve in the United States Air Force during Vietnam. He went to Morningside College in Sioux City, IA for his Bachelors and USD in Vermillion, SD for his Masters. From there, he worked at Greyhound Bus Lines supporting multiple areas and Grey Hill Academy as a behavioral counselor.

Bill married Sherol Wilson on June 5, 1969. He enjoyed spending time with his family, cracking his sarcastic jokes, watching his favorite teams (Hawkeyes, Chiefs, and Cubbies), and of course always cheering on the Morningside Mustangs. He also loved to cook and was very good at it.

In his later years, Bill showed incredible strength and resilience, having bravely overcome cancer five years ago. He spent four years at Kingsley Specialty Care, where he formed many meaningful friendships and remained deeply appreciative of the care he received.

Bill is survived by his wife, Sherol of 56 years, his son, Chad (Kirstin) Stephens, and three granddaughters; Anika, Alexis, and Tristen Stephens.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Chris Stephens; and his siblings, Robert Stephens, Lila Solomon (Stephens), and LeAnn Stephens.
