Obituary

Wilbert "Will" Verros, 64 of Sergeant Bluff, passed away Friday, April 17, 2015 at his residence.

Memorial services will be held 2 pm Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Shepherd of Peace Lutheran Church in Sergeant Bluff with Rev. Timothy Schiller officiating. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to service time. Burial will be at the Grace Hill Cemetery in Hawarden, Iowa, with Military Rites provided by the US Air Force. Graveside service will be held 11:00am Saturday, July 11, 2015 at the GraceHill Cemetery in Hawarden, Ia.

Will was born on July 4, 1950 in Darmstadt, Germany, the son of Wilbert and Margarete (Reeg) Verros. In 1952 the family moved to Iowa, and Will graduated in 1969 from West Sioux High School in Hawarden.

On April 11, 1970, he was united in marriage to Monica Rostermundt in Ireton, Iowa. Will joined the Air Force and received his honorable discharge in August 1975. During 1977 he went to Oklahoma City and completed training at the FFA Air Traffic School Center. He worked at the Sioux City airport until 1981; later he joined the Sioux City Police Department and was a Fire Range Instructor. Will retired from the department after 20 years on the force.

Will was a very religious man, and was a member of the Shepherd of Peace Lutheran Church in Sergeant Bluff.

Will is survived by his wife Monica; three sons, Jeremy (Joddi Collins) Verros, Jason (Stefanie) Verros and Brandon (Amanda) Verros, all of Sergeant Bluff; seven grandchildren, Alyssa, Nathan, Collin, Michele, Bodey, Beckett and Brinley; one brother, Jim (Marta) Verros of Elk Point, South Dakota; four sisters, Marita (Richard) Rotella of Redington Beach, Florida, Sandra (Mike) Holubar of Marshalltown, Iowa, Karen (Mike) Schneider of Kellogg, Iowa and Joanne (Shawn) Munns of Hawarden; and other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be sent to the Jackson Recovery Center.
