Wilbert “Butch” Cooley, 71, of Sioux City, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2016 at his residence. Services will be held 2:00 pm, Friday, February 12, 2016 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the funeral home. A visitation will be held 4-8 with family present from 6-8 and a prayer service at 7:00 pm, Thursday, February 11, 2016 at the funeral home.
Butch was born on September 24, 1944, the son of Jesse and Lucy (Nelson) Cooley.
Butch married Donna Johnson on September 12, 1964 in South Sioux City, NE, they later divorced and she passed away on March 31, 2004. He married Karlee Plueger on August 19, 1991 in Elk Point, SD, they later divorced and she passed away on March 12, 2011.
Butch enjoyed going to coffee with his friends on Friday mornings, watching TV, his dogs and cat, cooking, listening to country music, playing on the computer, and answering emails. Butch was a lifelong employee at Coney Island, and once served hot dogs to Elvis, when he performed at the auditorium in Sioux City.
Survivors include his children: James (Liz) Cooley, Sheila Holloway, Shelley Cooley, and Sabrina Cooley, all of Sioux City, siblings: Ron (Linda) Cooley of Des Moines, IA, Donna Wetrosky of Sioux City, and Jesse (Richard) Lukowicz of Erie, CO, seven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
Butch was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Diane Fredricksen, Richard and Wayne Cooley, Robert Cooley, and grandson Joshua Holloway.
