Wayne A. Tucker, 68, of Dakota Dunes, SD, passed away Sunday, October 21, 2018 following a brief but courageous fight against JC Virus. Services will be held 11:00 am on Friday, October 26, 2018 at Morningside Lutheran Church in Sioux City. A visitation will be held from 4-8 with family present from 6-8 and a prayer service at 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Wayne was born on November 15, 1949 in Yankton, SD to Albert James and Vera Mae (Babcock) Tucker. He grew up in Springfield, SD and completed his bachelor's degree at University of South Dakota, Springfield. It was there he met the love of his life, Sandy.

On January 30, 1971, Wayne married Sandy Moor in Bonesteel, SD.  They had one child and Wayne had careers in teaching, coaching, and business ownership before the family moved to the Siouxland area in 1988. He worked for Malloy Electric in Dakota Dunes, retiring in November 2016 due to his declining health.

Wayne was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church for 25 years. He was an avid outdoorsmen and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and kayaking.  Wayne was known to be able to fix anything. Family was very important to him and he never missed a milestone event, was always there for advice, and helping on home projects. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and had them participating in his current endeavor. He was blessed to have 47 years with his best friend and wife, Sandy, by his side.

In life, Wayne was the recipient of a double lung transplant and a huge supporter of organ donation. He knew the agony of waiting for the gift of life and would encourage everyone to register to be a donor. The family takes comfort in knowing that Wayne is surrounded by light, free from the struggle that haunted him. They would have given anything for him to experience that freedom in this lifetime. Their grief over losing him is infinite. And now so is he.

Survivors include his wife, Sandy (Moor) Tucker of Dakota Dunes; daughter, Tara (Matthew) Vonnahme of Bentonville, Arkansas; grandchildren, Skylar Jayde (Marcus) Vonnahme-Blowers of Sioux City, Aspen Saige Vonnahme and Courtland Hunter Vonnahme, both of Bentonville, Arkansas; brother, Roger (Doris) Tucker of Wausa, Nebraska; and many nephews, nieces and their families.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jerry Tucker; sister, Karen Johnson; infant sister; mother and father-in-law, Henry and Betty Moor; 2 brothers-in-law, Ronald and Dennis Moor; and his generous organ donor, Skyler Hufstedler.
