Vishal “Vic” Yogesh Patel, 36, of Sioux City, IA, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026. A funeral service will be held Friday, January 30 at 11:00 a.m. at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. Visitation will be Thursday, January 29 from 4-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Vishal was born on May 8, 1989 in Gujarat-Surat, India, the only son of his parents Manjusha and Yogesh Patel. He graduated from Hunters Lane High School in Nashville, TN. He then went on to attend the University of South Dakota where he graduated in 2013 with a major in psychology and a minor in health science. Vic was a computer and math whiz. He could solve a problem in his head quicker than anyone could’ve done on paper.
Vic could make you laugh without even saying a word. He had a one of a kind personality that only certain people got the privilege to see. Out of all the jobs Vic worked, Opportunities Unlimited was by far his favorite and most rewarding. He loved the residents whole heartedly.
On August 8, 2017, he married Abbie Peterson in Sioux City. They welcomed the most beautiful blessing, their daughter Priya Ann on April 26, 2021. He loved his family more than anything, clear up until the end. He enjoyed watching the San Francisco 49ers, Taco Bell, and rapping to 50 cent songs. He also enjoyed the Sunday church services at Sioux City First Church. Vishal will be remembered for always lending a helping hand for anyone who needed it, whether it was for a human or animal. On trips to India, he would walk the streets feeding the homeless animals.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Abbie Patel and daughter Priya Ann of Sioux City; parents: Manjusha and Yogesh Patel, of Surat, India; sister, Janki (Harsh) Chopra, with a baby on the way, of Sacramento, CA; grandmother, Shantaben Parbhubhai Patel of India; father and mother-in-laws: Doug and Malissa Pierce; brother-in-law, Adam Peterson; sister-in-law, Brooklyn Pierce; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his favorite dogs: Brownie and Ellie.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents: Parbhubhai Pahyabhai Patel and Babubhai and Nirmalaben Jariwala.
Vishal was loved immensely and will forever be missed.
