Virgil L. Rice, 88 of Sioux City, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.
A celebration of life will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 pm, with military honors by the United States Navy at 6:00 pm on Friday, March 25, 2016 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave.
Virgil was born December 22, 1927 in Marcus, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Vida Rice. He was raised in Cherokee, Iowa. In 1945, Virgil joined the Navy where he served for two years, and in 1950 he joined the Air Force and served until 1953. Virgil worked several years at Wilson Trailer and Williams TV before retiring.
Virgil is survived by his wife, Betty of 57 years; four children, Therese (Dave) Chrestensen, Gary (Ranae) Rice, Steve (Nancy) Rice, and Karen (Ron) Seibold; three sisters, Ellen Henderson, Lorraine Jaminet, and Veda Santos; five grandchildren, Travis (Dena) Rowley, Jessica (John) Johnson, Aaron (Amanda) Rice, Molly Rice, and Stevie Rice; and two great grandchildren, Payton Johnson and Kylee Rowley.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
