Virgil Lee Rausch Jr., 66, passed away January 21, 2025.  A funeral service will be held Monday, January 27 at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Merlyne Smith officiating, at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-6:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Graceland Park Cemetery.

Virgil was born November 11, 1958, in Sioux City, IA to Virgil Rausch, Sr. and Wilma (Thorngren) Brewer.  He attended Woodrow Wilson and North High School.  Throughout his career he worked construction and then spent 20 + years at Siouxland Recovery until he retired.  He loved the San Francisco 49ers, fishing, watching old movies, and spending time with his family, especially on the 4th of July.  He also enjoyed spending time with his friends at Bob’s Watering Hole.

Those left to honor his memory include his siblings: Donald Wold, Michael Rausch Annette (Tom) Mast, Tamara (Randal) Gray, Suzanne (Robert) Ewers, Rebecca (Alfredo) Brewer, Jennifer (Eduardo) Martinez, and Christy Manns; several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; maternal and paternal grandparents; sister, Carol Lee; brother, Thomas Rausch; niece, Amy Barbee; and nephew, Matthew Rausch.
