Viona “Vi” Headid, 89 of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10 am Saturday, April 18, 2015 at St. Thomas Orthodox Church in Sioux City with Father Lucas Rice officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery, Sioux City. Visitation with the family present will be Friday, April 17, 2015 from 3-8 pm with a 7 pm Trisagion Service at St. Thomas Orthodox Church.
Vi was born April 29, 1925 to William and Anna (Schroeder) Anderson in Union County, South Dakota. She attended school and helped on the family farm until she married Mahlon Headid on April 17, 1943 in Connecticut. Time with her children and grandchildren was the highlight of her life. She was the long time owner of the East End Beauty Shop in Sioux City, where she spent many years visiting and taking care of her customers. Vi was a member of St. Thomas Orthodox Church.
Survivors include her son, Milo (Kristy) of Sgt. Bluff, and daughter, Carol Border Stone, and her husband Dick Stone of Sioux City, and sister Evelyn Stream of LeMars as well as9 grandchildren 20 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Vi was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Mahlon, son-in-law Gerald Border, granddaughter Michelle Headid, and brother LW “Andy” Anderson and his wife Edna, and brother-in-law Harold Stream.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Thomas Orthodox Church.
