Violet “Vi” Mae Longlee, 92, of Sioux City, IA, left this world on September 21, 2026 at Westwood Specialty Care. A funeral service will be held Friday, September 25, 2026 at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation 1 hour prior at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Violet was born on September 29, 1933 in Mapleton, IA to Hattie (Smothers) and Arthur Durston. She was one of four “Durston Girls”- Violet, Lavonne, Vonna, and Lilly. She was united in marriage to Gordon Longlee on February 4, 1956 and together they had 2 daughters: Rene Vaske and Roxanne Longlee. She also had a daughter, Gerri Hunter. Violet loved to work in her gardens, read books, cooking, and candle light suppers.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughters: Rene and Gerri; sisters: Lilly (Joe) Smith, Linda Cooper, and Chris Durston; brothers: Troncseey Kramer, Gary Durston; grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gordon; beloved sisters: LaVonne and Vonna; daughter, Roxanne; brother-in-laws: brother, Ted Kramer, Lester Olson and David Sorenson; and many aunts, uncles, and friends.
