Violet (Penguin) Torres Mason, 54 of Sioux City, Iowa passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at a hospital in South Dakota. Celebration of Life will be held 3:00pm Sunday, July 16, 2023, at 1725 South Clinton Street, Sioux City, Iowa.

Violet was born May 16, 1969, in Fresno, California the daughter of Olivia Martinez Armijo. She was a High School graduate and received her associate degree in medical Billing. In 2010 Violet moved to Sioux City, Iowa, and married Sherman L. “Skip” Mason. He later passed on February 10, 2012. She worked at Aetna for a bit and then at Harbor Freight.

Violet was a loving and caring mother to four beautiful children: Olivia, Carlos, Gabriel, and Raymond. Some of her favorite things to do were camping, BBQing, and hanging out with family. From seafood buffets to backyard BBQs, she enjoyed it all. Movie night was a big thing, from horror to comedy, to even a good show; she was always up to watch something new. Cooking is what she loved. It was always something that brought everyone together. Whether hosting or attending, she'd always lend a helping hand.

She is survived by her four children: Olivia, Carlos, Gabriel, and Raymond, her grandchildren, brothers, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Violet is preceded in death by her husband, Sherman “Skip”, mother, Olivia, and her father, John.

Violet will be remembered as a loving grandmother, sister, tia, and friend.
