Viktar Pauliushchyk, 70 of Sergeant Bluff, formally of Minsk, Belarus, unexpectedly passed away Monday, July 23, 2018 at a hospital in Sisseton, SD.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Friday, July 27, 2018 at St. Thomas Orthodox Church, 1100 Jones Street, Sioux City, with Rev. Lucas Rice officiating. Burial will be in St. Thomas Orthodox Cemetery in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 4 pm Thursday, July 26, 2018, at the church, with a Trisagion service at 7:00 pm.
Viktar was born July 20, 1948 in Minsk, Belarus the son of Kiril Zhylka and Uzepha Pauliushchyk. He graduated from High School and College in Minsk. Viktar married Luidmila in 1972 in Minsk. In 2002 Viktar and his family moved to United States. He worked for K&B Transportation until 2014 when he retired.
He enjoyed fishing, motorcycles, and being with his grandchildren. Viktar was a member of the St. Thomas Orthodox Church.
Viktar is survived by his wife Liudmila, two daughters, Alena (Vladimir) Zhylka, of North Sioux City, Maryna, (Don) Smith of Salix, one sister-in-law Tasha (James) Salmen, three sisters that live in Belarus, and three grandchildren Katrina Zhylka, Nathan Smith, and Vika Smith.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and a grandchild Vitali Zhylka.
