Vernon Lee Mace, 50, of Sioux City, passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2016. A funeral service will be held at 6:00 pm, Friday, February 19, 2016 at Four Directions Community Center with a meal to follow. A visitation will be held from 1:00 to 6:00 pm with family present prior to the service at Four Directions. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sergeant Bluff.
Vernon was born on August 17, 1965 in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Vernon Lee Mace, Sr. and Betty McBride. He attended West High in Sioux City. Vernon worked at IBP, construction, truck driver, and was also a self employed mechanic.
Vernon was an outdoorsmen, he loved to hunt, fish, trap, pick turnips, among other things. Vernon also enjoyed playing pool, baseball, and running. He had a passion for pit bull dogs especially his own that passed away, Jack and Kila. Vernon loved to spend time with family and friends, especially children.
Survivors include his mother Betty Taylor of Wagner, SD, children: Andrea Mace, Verna Hoffman, Clyde Hoffman of Sioux City, Derik Medina of CO, and Alexandrea Mace and Hope Mace of Sioux City, brothers: Robert (Kim) Mace and Jerry Mace of MO, Clayton Mace, Bruce Mace, Thomas (Winona) Mace of Sioux City, and Richard Mace of Yankton, SD, sisters: Nora (Nick Scurra) Scurra-Taylor of AR, LaVerne Taylor of Sioux City, Beth Middleton of MN, and Lori Mace of MO, grandchildren: Promise, Michael, Claudia, Crusie, Lilyanna, Giselle, Cody, Richard, Teyha, Alvin, Derik Jr., Dominick, River, Chloe, Naydia, Tianna, Nautica, and Katana.
Vernon was preceded in death by his father, daughter Aubrianna Mace, three brothers: Mason Greyface, Terry Mace, and Randy Deal, sister Elizabeth Taylor, grandchild Chloe Mace, and Teresa Hoffman.
