Verna Lee Frigge, 79, of Sioux City, IA. passed away on February 20, 2024, peacefully in her home after a long battle with dementia. Services will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Waterbury Funeral Service, 4125 Orleans Avenue, Sioux City, Iowa. Visitation will be held an hour before service time.
Verna was born on August 29, 1944 in South Sioux City, NE. to George and Norma (Russell) Sweisberger. She attended South Sioux City Schools. Verna was united in marriage to David Joseph Frigge on August 18, 1962. They raised 3 children in the Hawarden and Westfield area. Verna was a homemaker for most of her life and took care of the family and focused on her children; being a sledding partner, a taxi service and a mentor for the kids and their friends. After the kids were raised, they moved off the farm to start a journey to travel.
Verna loved to garden, travel, play cards and frequent casinos. Though Verna's favorite thing was to spend time with her family and make sure they were cared for and happy.
Verna is survived by her husband, David Frigge; children: Rusty Frigge (Tina Monroe) and Chris (Nick) Schenkelberg; 6 grandchildren: Adam (Jennifer) Frigge, Danielle (Sam) Chambors, Joe (Cassie) Frigge, Tyra Frigge, Dylan and Tyler Schenkelberg; stepchildren: Evan and Jasper Longwell and Brian Monahan; several great grandchildren; and siblings Carol Kruse and Sandy Frese.
Verna is proceeded in death by her son David Michael Frigge, parents George and Norma, stepmom Bernice Sweisberger and siblings Steve Sweisberger, Faye Olson and Joyce Davis.
