IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Travis Alan
Sloan
August 20, 1963 – December 4, 2025
Travis Alan Sloan, 62, of Kingsley, Iowa formerly of Laurens, Iowa passed away unexpectedly on December 4, 2025. Born on August 20, 1963, to Mary and the late Alan Sloan, Travis lived a life that could only be described as uniquely and authentically his.
Travis was a complicated man in the way that only the biggest personalities often are. There were times you wanted to shake him, but no matter what, you simply couldn’t help but love him. He had a way of showing up when it mattered most. You could trust him with your secrets or with your life, and it would be safe with him. Loyalty was not something he talked about; it was something he lived.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Travis spent much of his life on the open road as a truck driver. He found freedom there behind the wheel, chasing the horizon, living life one mile marker at a time. He loved anything with a motor, and over the years he owned more vehicles than anyone could keep track of two wheels, four wheels, and eighteen. A new “toy” was simply expected. Of all of them, his most treasured was his late father’s Harley, a piece of Alan he could hold onto. Like father, like son.
Travis was the father of two children he loved deeply: Stephanie and Jesse.
He loved a good steak, but even more than that, he loved anyone’s home cooking as long as he wasn’t the one cooking it. Travis was undeniably a mamma’s boy. He spoke with his mom frequently and loved her fiercely. He knew how blessed he was to have a mother like Mary who was supportive, forgiving, and unwavering.
Travis also inherited one of his father’s legendary sayings: “Money is no object when you’re having fun.” And he lived that out wholeheartedly.
Left to treasure his memory are his daughter, Stephanie Guthrie (John Guthrie), and their children; his son, Jesse Sloan (Ashley Sloan), and their children; his mother, Mary Dean; his sisters, Kathi Andersen and Christine Berkenpas; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever carry a story (or ten) about Travis.
Travis is proceeded in death by his fathers, Alan Sloan & Jerry Dean , Uncles, Aunts, and cousins. Travis lived fast, loved hard, and left a mark on every life he crossed. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever a reminder that the simplest moments a phone call, a Harley ride, a shared meal are the ones that matter the most.
