Travis Lee Dunagan left us on April 24, 2025, in Sioux City, Iowa after a lengthy battle with Squamous Cell Carcinoma. He passed away peacefully in bed, surrounded by his wife and family.
He was born to Elly (Furgason) Rippe and Ervin Dunagan in Iowa City, Iowa on November 22, 1972. He grew up in Sioux City, Iowa. Throughout his career, he worked very hard; working numerous jobs; including building towers, working in the tree industry, and he eventually accomplished obtaining his CDL and spent the last 19+ years working for Midwest Concrete Company (formerly Dan Moos Construction) as a manual worker and pump truck operator. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, generosity, his love for his family, and constant happiness.
Travis began dating Ramona (Haaf) Dunagan in the summer of 2001, and eventually they married on July 8, 2006. Ramona brought 4 adult-children into the relationship: Deona, Diane, Monica, and Greg. Over the years, Travis and his stepchildren became very good friends, often going fishing, spending many Saturday’s watching football games, and sharing a cold beer after an IA Hawkeye win (or more importantly, a NE Cornhusker loss). Travis and Ramona also raised Anthony and Adrianna from a very young age, and later welcomed Aleah and Abel into their home. Travis cherished being a father, despite not having biological children. It brought him great fulfillment providing for his family.
Despite long, hard hours at work, he spent countless hours at football games, attending school events, weekends at Park Jefferson Speedway, and Disney trips with his family. Not only did he cherish being a father, but Travis was also the happiest, most supportive uncle. Most holidays, birthdays, and trips were spent with Travis’ mother Elly and her husband Rick, whom Travis was great friends with. Travis truly was an amazing husband, father, son, brother, and friend.
As the children in the home grew up and moved out, Travis and Ramona had more quality time together and they began prioritizing spending time doing things they loved. While they opened their home and welcomed more grandchildren to live in their home for periods of time, Travis

and Ramona began taking trips out of town with one another.

Travis also began working on his race car. His car labeled, “Mona’s Money” #29, became an opportunity to do something he enjoyed in his spare time, which was racing. He went from watching others race most weekends, occasionally partaking in demolition derby’s and mini-van Olympics, to then racing himself every weekend. It brought him great pride building his car piece by piece with his close friends, Jason Ward and Marcus Roupe. His love for racing has brought him many lasting relationships in the Siouxland racing community, gaining lifelong friends over the years.
Travis leaves behind his devoted wife Ramona; stepchildren: Deona (David Sr.) Svoboda of Springfield, SD, Diane Haaf of Sioux City, IA, Monica Pineda of Sioux City, IA, and Greg Sr. (Juanita) Haaf of Sioux City, IA; his mother Elly (Rick) Rippe of Sioux City, IA; brother John (Bobby) Dunagan of Ennis, TX; sister Torrie Dunagan of South Sioux City, NE; brother Kodi Rippe of Sioux City, IA; 16 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nephews; and many cousins, in-laws, extended family members, and friends.
Travis is preceded in death by his father Ervin Dunagan, his grandparents Mike and Helen Dunagan, his mother in-law Delores Campbell-Duvall and father-in law Richard Duvall, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
