Thomas Edward Ryan, 81, of Hornick, IA, passed away surrounded by his family on May 23, 2025 at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, IA.  A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, May 28 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix.  Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-7:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. at the church.  Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Salix.  Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sergeant Buff.

Thomas was born on July 13, 1943 in Sioux City, IA to Edward and Irene (Krause) Ryan.  He graduated from Smithland High School.  He enlisted into the United States Army and was honorably discharged.  Thomas was united in marriage to Margaret (Marge) Korth on August 21, 1968 in Randolph, NE.  Together they enjoyed traveling, going to Branson, Deadwood, and Lake Havasu in the winter.  Thomas enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and going to the Iowa State Fair.  He especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He could often be found on the phone visiting with friends.

Tom was the proud owner and operator of Ryan Trucking business for over 50 years. He was a member and past President of the Woodbury County REC board. Tom was a member of Mater Dei Catholic Church. He is currently a member of the Knights of Columbus and a past post commander of the Hornick American Legion.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Margaret (Marge) Ryan; children: Michael (Mike), Daniel (Dan); grandchildren; Morgan, McKenna, Zachary, Nathan, London, Zoey, Remey, Jacob, Payton, and Paige. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Colleen, and his son Patrick.
