Thomas L. “Tom” Mackie, 60 of Sioux City, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023, at his residence, surrounded by his family. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 pm Friday, November 17, 2023, at the Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City with Rev. Kevin J. Freese officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time.

Thomas Leland Mackie was born on November 17, 1962, in Omaha, Nebraska the son of David and Patricia (Bockes) Mackie.

Tom was a 1981 East High School graduate and attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake. Over the years Tom worked as the manager of the Sioux City Convention Center, the Sioux City Auditorium and the Explorers Ball Park. Later Tom worked at Stoney Creek Hotel and retired from the Wingate by Wyndham Hotel.

Tom spent his last year’s care giving for his mother Patricia. Tom touched the hearts of many people through his life.

He is survived by his mother, Patricia “Pat” Mackie, honorary daughter, Lacy Griffith, two brothers, Scott and John Mackie, his favorite sister, Missy Lindgren, honorary sister, Lorry Deming, five grandchildren, Mahkenna, Kylah, Harlow, Greycen, Truleigh Hathaway, nephews; Josh and D.J. Lindgren, nieces; Tiffany Mackie and Jordin Hankins, along with his other precious great nieces and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by his father, David Mackie, beloved partner, Steven Bridges, his aunt, Dorothy (Sistek) Johnson, and his beloved dog, Ziggy, along with other extended family members.
