Thomas C. ‘Hawk’ Huisman, 62, of Sioux City, Iowa died Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family and best friend Dan Verbeski after a 6 month courageous battle with cancer. A Celebration of Life will at 1:00 Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. Visitation will be 11:00 AM until service time at the Funeral Home. A lunch will follow services at the Funeral Home.

Tom was born May 2, 1955 in Sioux City, Iowa the son of Dewey and Leota (Gregg) Huisman. He grew up in Sioux City, graduating from East High School in 1973. Tom worked as a bartender at The Runway in Sergeant Bluff, sold cars, worked surveillance at the Casinos, and worked for First Class Security and BPI.

Tom loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also really enjoyed the holidays. He was an avid football (Vikings and Hawkeyes) fan and loved Nascar. He also was not only and amazing father and grandfather but also an amazing son-as he cared for his mother during the end of her life. Anyone who knew him knew he was a great guy with a heart of gold.

Survivors include his daughter, Sharon Huisman and Chubby Barker of Sergeant Bluff; granddaughters Aleigha, Kaleigha , Serenity, Shyla and a grandson Tre'kel; a great-granddaughter, Amiyah Skye; 3 brothers, Dick & Marg Stott of California, Art Stott of Washington and Dewey & Alpha Huisman of California; 2 sisters, Donna Richter of Pierz, MN and Sharon Smith of Sioux City; 5 stepchildren, Candy, Barb, Bob, Lorrie and Vic and their families; special niece, Judy Loch of Pierz, MN; his dog, Peanut; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Thomas; sister, Phyllis; brother, Barry; his dogs, Bailey and Prince.
