Thomas R Hoffman, age 48, of Sioux City formerly of Jefferson, South Dakota passed away at his home on Tuesday April 3, 2012, surrounded by his family under the care of Hospice.
The family will host a reception at Tom’s home on Monday from noon until 4:30 pm. Visitation will be held on Monday April 9, 2012 from 5-8 pm with a prayer service held at 7:00pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sioux City, with Deacon Mark Wynat officiating. Per his wishes he will be cremated following the visitation and inurnment will take place at a later date. Waterbury Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements. Tom was born in Sioux City, Iowa on September 5, 1963, the son of Raymond Carl Hoffman and Betty L Karr. Tom and his family moved to California when Tom was the age of two and returned to Jefferson in 1979. He attended Sacred Heart School.
Tom was a Jack of all trades, he worked in construction as a painter and sandblaster, as a rock crusher for Siouxland Sand & Gravel, and most recently in management at Prestige Body Shop. He was a jockey at Atokad and Park Jefferson for a few years. He treated all with whom he came into contact with respect and dignity. He was a NASCAR fan, and enjoyed playing golf, and collecting miniature race cars and miniature Elmo’s.
He is survived by his son Andrew Hoffman and girlfriend Jolene Harvey of Sioux City, his daughter Sheena Hoffman of Dakota Dunes, S.D. his mother Betty Hoffman of Onawa, his fiancée Jody Lenzen, and her two sons: Nathan & Beau of Sioux City, three brothers: Ricky Lee Hoffman and his wife Pam of Davis Junction, Illinois, Steven Ray Hoffman and his wife Deb of North Sioux City, South Dakota, and Charlie Hoffman and his wife Jayne of Ronan, Montana, and his three granddaughters: Brooklynn, Alyssa, and Marissa, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins and the Hutcheson family.
Tom was preceded in death by his father.
A Memorial fund has been established at Security National Bank in Tom’s name.
