Thomas L. “Tom” Baker, 64 of North Sioux City, South Dakota, died Monday, March 2, 2015 at his home surrounded by family and friend.
A celebration of his life will start at 4 pm Saturday, March 7th at the North Sioux City Fire Hall with Military Honors conducted at 5 pm by the US Army. Tom’s friends are invited to join the family afterwards for a pot luck dinner. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sergeant Bluff. Tom was born on July 29, 1950 in Norfolk, Nebraska, the son of Chester and Margaret (Real) Baker. Tom graduated from Central High School in 1969, and enlisted in the Army in August. He was sent to Vietnam.
Tom was married to Helen Martin. Tom’s main focus in life was his family and being a friend’s friend. Over the years, he built many race cars for area drivers.
Tom is survived by his wife, Helen Baker; three sons, Robert (Christen) Baker of Auburn, Washington, Alan (Peg) Baker of Council Bluffs, and Bradley Baker of Sioux City; one daughter, Brandi (Chuck) Gordon of Sioux City; 11 grandchildren; one brother, Keith Baker of Sioux City; and one sister, Sally (Jim) Mayer of Melbourne Beach, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Chuck Baker.
