Thelma M. (Rice) Ihde, 86 of Sioux City, Iowa passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at South Texas Health System, McAllen, Texas, surrounded by her family. Services will be held 11:00 am Friday, May 6, 2022 at the St. James United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sergeant Bluff.
Thelma Marie (Rice) Ihde loved life and her family but mostly her Lord Jesus Christ. This was shown daily by reading her bible.
Thelma was born in Dallas, Texas on October 13 th , 1935 to Thomas Franklin and Pearl Irene Rice. She attended school in Dallas and graduated high school in 1953. Delbert and Thelma met at the Texas State Fair when Del was stationed in the Air Force. Then Del took his city girl back to South Dakota after they were united in marriage in Dallas on October 14, 1954. To this union two daughters were born, Janet and Terri, and blessed with four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Thelma was a homemaker until 1980 when Del and her started trucking together, traveling across the United States and Canada for 20 years. Thelma then worked various jobs but her most loved job was working at Southern Hills HyVee for 15 years. Thelma and Del’s next adventure was wintering in Mission, Texas which they enjoyed their friends and the warmth for seven years.
Thelma is survived by her husband Del; daughters; Janet (Neil) Rogers, Terri (Kim) Schaunaman; grandchildren Aaron (Sarah) Rogers, Katherine (Eric) Jacobs, Amanda (Todd) Bauerly, Sarah (Dan) Shelton; and great grandchildren, Isabel, Jasmine, Talyn, Sophie, Elsie, and Maddoxx.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents and four sisters.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. James United Methodist Church, Sioux City, Iowa.
