Obituary

Terry L. "Buzz" Berg, Sr., 60 of South Sioux City, died Wednesday, June 1, 2011 from injuries from a motorcycle accident on I-29 south of Elk Point, South Dakota. Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 6 at Glad Tidings Lighthouse Church in South Sioux City. A Visitation will be held 4-8 pm with family present from 6-8pm on Sunday evening at the Church. Burial will be in Dakota City Cemetery with a luncheon at Glad Tidings Lighthouse Church following.

Terry was born May 15, 1951 in Sioux City to Leland and Thelma (Clark) Berg. Terry grew up in South Sioux City and attended South Sioux City Schools. He joined the United States Marines in May of 1969. He married Paula Flieder on October 24, 1969 in Elk Point. During the Vietnam War, Terry was awarded a Purple Heart. He worked as an auto mechanic, and at the Sioux City Foundry, retiring from Speedy Lube in 2001. Terry loved his motorcycle, fishing, baking, stock car racing and taking care of his yard. Most of all, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife Paula of South Sioux City, son Terry Berg, Jr. and his wife Stacie of Sergeant Bluff, his daughter Tammy Leitru and her husband Neil of Elk Point, South Dakota, his brothers Randy Berg and his wife Jana of Lenexa, Kansas, and Russell Berg and his wife Beverly of Sioux City, grandchildren, Brian, Jeffery, and Kristen Leitru, Terry, Austin, Blake Berg, his Aunt Dorothy Berg of Early, Iowa, friend Shirley Pekas of Yankton, South Dakota, and his dog Peppy.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, brother Marvin, sisters Linda, Regina, and Pamela, Uncle Gerald, and Step-father James "Poppy" Rich.

Pallbearers will be Derrick, Justin and Dustin Berg, Ricky Clay, Brian and Neil Leitru.
