Ted R. Ball, Sr., 59, of Dakota Dunes, passed away on Friday, November 11, 2016 at a local hospital. Services will be 10:00 am, Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. A visitation will be held from 4-8 with family present from 6-8 and a prayer service at 7:00 pm, on Wednesday at the church. Burial will be following the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.
Ted was born on September 8, 1957 in Henderson, Nevada, the son of Ted and Maxine (James) Ball. He graduated from Clark, NV high school in 1974. Ted married Brenda Vasque on April 3, 1976 in Las Vegas, NV. Together they traveled with the military, moving to New Jersey, Ted joined the United States Marine Corp in 1975 and did one tour overseas before returning to the US. He was in the reserves for a few years following active service. Together they then moved back to Las Vegas and finally moving to Sioux City in 1986.
Ted was an income tax accountant, and owned and operated his own business for 26 years. It wasn't just tax season to him, it was social season. All of his clients were considered friends, he had a passion for his career. He enjoyed camping, fishing, golfing, bowling, traveling, BMX bikes, his tractor, and loved spending time with his family. Ted was a longtime proud sponsor of Westside Little League, Westside sports, and Siouxland Youth Hockey. He was a very active and caring father and grandfather, making every situation a life lesson.
On September 11, 2001, Ted was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and fought hard to stay active. He was involved in many trial testings and experimental drugs. He did this not only for himself, but also for future MS patients.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda; children, Janet (John) Mueller, Ted Jr. (Jess) Ball, Dean (Nicole) Ball, and Carrie (T.J.) Trudeau, all of Sioux City; brothers, Dennis Ball of Sioux City, Patrick (Brenda) Ball of Walt Hill, NE, Doug (Chris) Ball of California, and Tim Ball of Dakota City; sisters, Patty (Randy) Stanton of North Sioux City and Kay Roybal of Las Vegas; grandchildren, Christina (Shane), C.J., Chrystal, Christian, Jace, Jasper, Thomas III, Tucker, J.T., Katelyn, Chelsea, Maddox, Jacey, Broghan, and Corbin; and one great grandchild, Novalea.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Gay Orr; and daughter, Casey Ball.
