Obituary

Susan Arlene Glennie Noble continued her journey into the next life on Wed Jan 8th. Services to celebrate Susan’s life will be held with a visitation Sunday Jan 12th from 6p.m. to 8 p.m., at Waterbury Funeral Home, in Sgt Bluff. The family will be present at 5p.m. Funeral services will held on Mon Jan 13th at 11a.m. also at Waterbury Funeral Home. Luncheon to follow, details to be announced. The Rev Chris Frank will be officiating.
Susan was born Jan 10, 1945 in Atlantic Iowa to Forbes and Myrtle (Petersen) Glennie. When Susan was young the family moved to the Mondamin, Iowa area. Thou times could be tough Susan’s memories were good ones; she was generous to share stories about the fun they had, and the love that was given. Susan attended school in Mondamin until her later years in high school when she and her Mom moved to South Sioux City, Nebraska. She graduated from South Sioux High School in 1963.
Susan moved to Sioux City, Iowa after graduation and went to work for the phone company. It was during this phase of her life that she met and married Jim Riley. The couple moved to Des Moines, Iowa and eventually to an acreage in Redfield. This union produced two children, a son Mark and a daughter Mindi. A short time later the couple re-located back to Sioux City, Iowa.
Always believing in a strong work ethic, and being a proud woman Susan was a hard worker, and enjoyed new challenges. She had quite the selection of job titles during her 40plus years in the work force: receptionist, cashier, different departments of insurance from processing to filing medical claims, home health care, and a worker at the Department of Motor Vehicle. Susan enjoyed her various jobs over the years and found people that she enjoyed in most all situations.
In May of 1980 Susan married Ray Noble and the two enjoyed a wonderful relationship until Rays passing in May of 2008. Susan thoroughly enjoyed her family life, from her siblings, to her core family, and her large extended family. Thru her kindness wit and humor Susan also enjoyed several long lasting and important friendships thru out her life time. Most recently she had made cherished friends with several of the people whom she attended dialysis with.
Susan is survived by her daughter Mindi Riley-Barrett and her husband Jeramie of Sioux City, Iowa; three step-sons, Ken and his wife Jan of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Jim and his wife Kathy of Sioux City, Iowa, and Steve “Pete” and his wife Tammy of Sioux City; three step-daughters LeAnne and her husband Phil Lamoureux of Beaver Lake, Nebraska, Lorri and her husband Dave Whitesell of Tucson Arizona, and Lisa Nelson of Sioux City; 18 grandchildren and , 17 great grandchildren. Susan is also survived by three of her siblings; Gene Ward and his wife Janne from Omaha, Nebraska, Gordon Glennie and his wife Myrna of Mondamin, Iowa, and Kathleen Mummey and her husband Don of Omaha, Nebraska.
Susan was proceeded in death by her parents Myrtle Glennie and Forbes Glennie; her step mother Bonnie Glennie, one sister Judy Sandlin and her infant son Mark Riley.
