Steve was born December 29, 1970 to Donnie and Mary Ellen McDonald. He was raised in Sioux City and  attended Immaculate Conception grade school and graduated from East High in 1989. He had attended Briar Cliff University and WITCC.

Steve married Jennifer Gengler in 2004. Steve was an Ironworker for many years and was a past Exalted Ruler and member of Sioux City Elks Lodge 112.

Steve's joy was spending time with his sons Blake, Brett and Max, especially watching Raiders football with them.  He enjoyed many hours and years at baseball, wrestling and football games. He enjoyed spending time at Lake Okoboji with his wife Jennifer, his sons, brothers and sisters, and his in-laws. Steve loved to play disc-golf and catch with the boys. On a hot day or when maintenance needed done he could be found in the pool with his family.  When he wasn’t doing any of the above, his pal Chewy would take Steve for a walk.

Steve could always be seen with his great big Mountain Dew.

Steve is survived by his wife Jennifer; sons Blake Harris, Brett McDonald and Max McDonald; brothers Ray (Sherrie) and Alec; sisters Virginia (Michael) Mack, Linda Kramer, Mary Therese (Tim) Foreman, Monica McDonald, Shannon McDonald; mother-in-law and father-in-law George and Barb Gengler; sister-in-law Jessica Dunlop and many nieces and nephews.
