Steven L. Mann, 65, of Sioux City, passed away Friday, December 9, 2016 at a local hospital. Services will be held 10:30 am, Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery following services. A visitation will be held from 4-8 with family present from 6-8 and a prayer service at 7:00 pm, Tuesday, December 13, at the funeral home.
Steve was born on December 26, 1950 in Sioux City, the son of Lauren and Pearl (Strong) Mann. Steve attended Central High School in Sioux City and Western Iowa Tech for classes in mechanics. Steve enlisted to the United States Air Force in 1974.
Steve married Violet Hilden on April 4, 1975 in South Sioux City. Steve was the head mechanic with the Sioux City School District for over 30 years. He also worked for the 185th Fighting Wing for 6 years with the military police, security forces.
Steve was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, American Legion post 64, Mason landmark lodge number 103. He was known to always be tinkering around with things, he loved old cars, cooking, camping, fishing, and watching cowboy shows. Most importantly, Steve loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Violet; children, Candice and Jason Husted and their son, Rhett, Matthew Mann, and Lucas and Andrea Mann and their children Allyra and Asher, all of Sioux City; sisters, Donna Cole, Sharon and Virgil "Butch" Heiner, Lorna and Dale Waddell, Lynette and Ralph Cook, Marlene Laviola, and Sue Mann; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dogs, Bailey and Oliver.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dallas Mann; sister, Sharyl Peterson; and grandson, Connor Matthew Mann.
