Steve Barwick, 59, of Sioux City, IA, passed away March 10, 2024, at Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 6th at 10:30 a.m. at Community of Christ Church, 3232 Transit Ave., Sioux City, IA. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.
Steve was born on December 28, 1964, in Sioux City, IA to Donald and Mary (Collison) Barwick. He graduated from East High School in 1983 and went on to receive his associate degree in mechanical/architectural drawing from WITCC. He was a manager at Smithfield Foods. Steve was united in marriage to Brenda Smith on October 9, 1993, in Sioux City. He enjoyed building model trains and volunteering at the Railroad Museum. He loved Hawkeye Sports and NASCAR. Steve was involved in the Boy Scouts and was a Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Eagle Scout, Scout Master, and leader of the Order of The Arrow. He was very involved in his children’s activities and coached their little league baseball, football and soccer teams.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Brenda Barwick; mother, Mary Barwick, children: Abbie Smith-Barwick, Courtney (Benny) Ritz, Taylor Barwick, and Jarod (Aiyana) Barwick; grandchildren: Rilyn and Jalyn Norton, and Emma Ritz; siblings: Jeff (Tonja) Barwick, and Jayne (Don) Pfaffenbach.
He is preceded in death by his father, Don and grandmother, Dorothy.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Sioux City Railroad Museum.
