Stephen Payne, 21, of Sioux City, Iowa passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2025. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 1p.m. at Waterbury Funeral Service, 4125 Orleans Avenue, Sioux City, Iowa.

Stephen Adam Payne was born on July 7, 2003, in Vermillion, South Dakota, to Tamara and Dana Payne. When he was a year old, his family moved to Sioux City, Iowa where he grew up.

Stephen was a very energetic child. He loved to keep busy by learning how things worked (by taking them apart) and playing outside. Stephen always loved music. He started playing the drums as soon as he could hold sticks. Before his parents bought him his first drum set, he would use chopsticks and a chair. He later started learning other instruments, like the guitar and piano/keyboard.

Stephen was a social person and made friends easily. He also would help people in any way he could. One of his favorite things to do was to hang out with friends. Stephen first job was Fareway, where he worked through high school as a courtesy clerk and worked his way up. After graduation he moved to the meat department. Stephen had a couple other jobs as well but ended up at Olive Garden. He enjoyed working there and talked of going into restaurant management one day.

Stephen leaves behind his parents, Tammy and Dana Payne; his younger brother, Jacob; grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and many other family members and friends.
