Stephen J. Heilman, 58, of Salix passed away Saturday, June 3, 2017 on his little piece of this world.

A celebration of his life will be held 10:00am Saturday, June 10, 2017 at the Waterbury Funeral Home in Sgt. Bluff, IA, 400 4th Street. Burial will immediately follow at Calvary Cemetery, 2802 Casselman Steet in Sioux City, IA. Friends and family are welcome to join together for food and fellowship at #5 Lakeview Lane, Salix, IA starting at 1:00 p.m.

Steve “Sweet Pea” Heilman was born November 27, 1958 in Sioux City, IA., the son of Francis and Pauline (Murray) Heilman. He graduated from Westwood High School, and was a lifelong resident of Salix, IA., area. Sweet Pea was an avid fisherman, hunter, and lover of animals. He was one of the “sweetest” men to be called son, brother and friend.

Survivors include his five sisters; Mary Rutherford, Kate Speck, Marcia (Les) Snow, Barbara (Richard) Parker, Lou Cortner; two brothers; Tim (Jeanne) Heilman and Roger Heilman; 21 nieces and nephews and 28 grandnieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings George, Helen and David.
