Rocky L. De Witt
April 12, 1959 – June 25, 2025
State Senator Rocky L. De Witt, 66 of Lawton, Iowa, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, with his family by his side. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Sunnybrook Community Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.
Rocky was born April 12, 1959, in Sioux City, Iowa to Homer and Orma (Kendall) De Witt. He graduated Lawton Bronson High School in 1977. On September 4, 1998, Rocky married Vicki Gill in Silverton, Colorado. They returned to Sioux City, where Rocky was employed at Iowa Public Service Co. (later known as MidAmerican Energy) for 23 years.
Rocky was elected to the Woodbury County Board of Supervisors in 2016, and subsequently elected to the Iowa Senate in 2022. Representing the citizens of these respective offices was the honor of his lifetime.
Rocky was a Lifetime Member and Benefactor of the National Rifle Association and an avid gun enthusiast who enjoyed riding motorcycles.
He is survived by the love of his life, Vicki; son, James (Natalie) De Witt; father, Homer L. De Witt; three grandchildren: Kaden, Everly, Callen; one great grandchild, Thatcher; and sister-in-law, Coral De Witt. He is also survived by stepson Chase (Maria) and nephews: Kolby (Jessica) and Nathan.
Rocky is preceded in death by his mother, Orma, two sons; Jeffrey and Justin, and brother, Kerry.
