Spencer O. Griffith, Sr. 63, of Lawton, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at a Sioux City hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 am, Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at the Community Presbyterian Church in Lawton, IA. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 4, 2015 from 5-8pm at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Spencer was born on November 30, 1951, in Sioux City, the son of Oren and Evelyn (Steinhoff) Griffith. He graduated from Lawton-Bronson High School in 1970. Spencer enlisted into the United States Army in 1971 and was honorably discharged in 1973.
Spencer married Delores "Lola" Stenum on August 15, 1981 in Sioux City. He owned his own concrete business, Concrete Complete. Spencer was a knife collector and a member of the Iowa Hawkeye Knife Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding his motorcycle. Spencer also played the drums and harmonica in several bands.
Survivors include his mother Evelyn (Bernie) Evers of Lawton, wife Lola Stenum-Griffith, daughter Mindi (Wesley) Griffith-Jones of Sioux City, son Spencer (Jennifer) Griffith of Lawton, grandchildren: Scott and Sierra Jones, and Logan Griffith, brother Stan (Madonna) Griffith of Lawton, sisters: Cindy (Bruce) Burg of Colorado, Camy (David) Delzell of Sioux City, and Cara (Brian) Goeden of South Dakota, and many nieces and nephews.
Spencer was preceded in death by his father, Oren.
