Shirley M. Christensen, 72, of Onawa, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at a Sioux City hospital. Services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Glad Tidings Lighthouse Church in South Sioux City, NE. A visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Shirley was born on August 3, 1944 in Sioux City, the daughter of Fred and Hazel (Honeywell) Rich. She graduated from South Sioux City High School. Shirley married Mark Christensen on February 15, 1989 in Elk Point, SD.

Shirley worked for Gateway for 13 years. She enjoyed spending time with Mark, doing crossword puzzles, going for long rides, playing bingo, and playing yahtzee with her sisters. Shirley was a great mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her husband, Mark; children, Tim Wright of Sioux City, Tom (Deanna) Wright of Sioux City, Tammy (Leland) Rhodman of Onawa, and Terri Sexton of North Carolina; sisters, Betty Bobier and Loretta (Terry) Blue both of South Sioux City; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and special friends, Carla Whitehead and Keith Andersen.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Harold Rich; and sister, Rita Miller.
