Shirley Mae Anderson, 86, of Sioux City, passed away Monday, August 15, 2016 at her residence, surrounded by her family. Services will be held 11:00 am, Thursday, August 25, 2016 at The Salvation Army. Private family burial will be held at a later date. Services are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.
Shirley was born on February 7, 1930 in Sioux City, the daughter of Arthur and Vida (Stockwell) Olson. She worked at Johnson Biscuit where she met and married the love of her life, Raymond Anderson on April 29, 1950. To this union, seven children were born.
Shirley was a lifelong member of the Salvation Army where she started a ceramics program, was the custodian, and also cooked for the children's feeding program until retirement. She bowled for many years at Gay Lanes and Plaza. Shirley loved all sports, especially watching her kids and grandkids play.
Survivors include her children, Neva (Debbie) Anderson, Jeff (Deb) Anderson, Randy (DeDe) Anderson, Laurie Anderson, Susan (Danny) Wilde, all of Sioux City, Gary (Steph) Anderson of Plattsmouth, NE, and Major Marlys Anderson of Farmington Hills, MI; grandchildren, Kortney and Ian Yankee, Phil (Lona), Andrew, and Robert Anderson, Kristina Anderson, Kayla (Travis) Peterson, Laceann (Jordan) Martinson, and DJ Wilde; sister, Gwen Plantz; several great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Art, Milton, and Melvin Olson; and granddaughter, Angel Wilde
