Sherry K. Mastbergen, 73 of Merrill, Iowa passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2023. Services will be held 10:30am Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at the Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, Iowa, 4125 Orleans Ave. Burial will be in Baker Township Cemetery, Melvin, Iowa.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Sherry Kay Mastbergen was born May 11, 1949, in Hull, Iowa to Alvin and Florence (Colshan) Mastbergen. She grew up on a farm outside of Melvin, Iowa and graduated from Melvin High School in 1967. Sherry then attended vocational school in Sheldon, Iowa. In 1969 Sherry married Floyd Egdorf, and moved to Sioux City, Iowa where they had two children: Jenny and C.J. They divorced after 23 years of marriage and a few years later she met Francis Meister. Sherry and Francis were together for many years before they married in 2012. One year later Francis passed away.

Sherry worked as a Dental Assistant in Primghar, Iowa and then at Aalfs Manufacturing after moving to Sioux City. After having children, she stayed home and was a babysitter for the neighborhood children. Later on, Sherry went to work for Target and then finished her retail career at Tractor Supply.

Sherry enjoyed raising and showing her Nubian goats. She traveled to many shows across the Mid-West, where she made many great friends. She also loved to crochet and sew.

Sherry is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Robert) Ankerstjerne, three stepchildren, Scott Meister, Greg Meister, Janet Nees, two brothers, John Mastbergen, Allen (Charlotte) Mastbergen, sister, Sue Mastbergen, brother-in-law, Paul Kleinwolterink, and three grandchildren, Cole Coover, Chloe Coover, and Emma Ankerstjerne, along with 10 step grandchildren, two aunts, and many nieces and nephews.

She preceded in death by her parents, son, Charles John “CJ” Egdorf, husband, Francis Meister, sister, Janet Kleinwolterink and a nephew, Tyler Kleinwolterink.
