Sharon K. Edwards, 61 of McCook Lake, died Friday, March 9, 2012 at a hospice facility in Sioux Falls after a courageous battle with leukemia.
Services will be held 11 am Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Riverside Lutheran Church with Rev. Charles Wolff officiating. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to service time. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service.
Sharon was born on August 16, 1950 in Sioux City, the daughter of Rolland “Rod” and Delores (Krause) Rozell. Sharon was raised in North Sioux City and attended McCook School. She graduated from Riverside High School in 1968.
On August 15, 1983 Sharon was united in marriage to Roy Edwards at Elk Point, South Dakota. Sharon worked at Graham Flying Service, Swift Dairy and Poultry and 21 years with Sodrac Park until its closing. She worked at Ike’s Bingo Hall until late 2010. Sharon was also an Avon representative for many years.
Sharon loved caring for animals and raised many pets throughout her life. She enjoyed being outdoors and planting flowers. Some of her fondest memories were those made boating on the Missouri River. Sharon adored babies and was elated to welcome her grandchildren into the world. Her greatest joy was cuddling and rocking her young grandsons while reading or talking to them.
Sharon is survived by her husband Roy; her daughters Angela and her husband Jim Larson of Merrill, Iowa and Amberly Edwards of Sioux City; her mother Delores Rozell of North Sioux City and her father in-law, Verne Crance of Sioux City; her stepchildren, Sherri and her husband Mike Hassebroek of Sheldon, Iowa, Darin Edwards and his wife Oom of Thailand and Travis Edwards and his wife Julie of Spencer; 3 grandchildren, Luke Larson, Reed Larson and Gavin Wilsbacher; 8 step-grandhcildren, Jeff Hassebroek and his wife Brittany, Justin Hassebroek, Jordan Hassebroek, Christine Edwards, Zak Edwards, Lauren Edwards, Amanda Edwards and Collin Edwards.
She was preceded in death by her father, Rod Rozell, her maternal grandparents Henry and Hazel Krause and her paternal grandparents Carvey and Bernice Rozell.
