Sara Jo Gordon, 71, of Sioux City, Iowa passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2026, resting peacefully at her home. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 21 at 1:30 p.m. at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. Visitation will be Monday, July 20 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Sara Jo Gordon, daughter of Joseph & Virginia (Rohloff) Otterpohl, was born September 11, 1954, in Osmond, NE. Sara was the second oldest of 6 children. Mother hen was in her blood from the start.

In the summer of ’71 she met the love of her life Charles (Chuck) Gordon. They were united in marriage on November 17, 1973. Through every season of life they endured, their love grew stronger; A true love story that will never end. They were blessed with three boys known to Sara as “My Three Sons” Jamie, Joseph and Charles.

Sara started her banking career with Norwest Bank later to become Wells Fargo Bank. After many years with Wells Fargo, she then continued her banking career with Great Southern Bank where she later retired.

Sara had many loves; from camping, to racing, to her dogs. She had many dogs over the years but her most recent dogs, Mia and Rio were her kids. Her primary love was her family. She dedicated her entire life to her family, finding her greatest joy in nurturing, supporting, and guiding them through every chapter of life. Once her boys were grown, her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was so proud of each and every one of them.

Survivors include her husband Chuck of Sioux City; sons, Jamie (Lynn) Gordon of Sioux City, Joe Gordon (Kaysha) of Sioux City, and Chuckie (known to Sara as Chief) of Sioux City; daughter Christy Gordon of Sioux City; grandchildren: Ashley (Rodney) Jacobs, Nicholas, Abby, Dylan, Kaylee, Caydin, and Brianna; 6 great-grandchildren; her siblings, a brother David (Peggy) Otterpohl; sisters: Theresa Otterpohl-Butler, Janie (Bob) Pavlushik, Susie (Rick) Ahlquist and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded into death by her parents Joe and Virgina Otterpohl; and bother Larry Rohloff.
