Sandra Lee Poulsen, age 67, of South Sioux City, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday September 7, 2014 at her residence.
Services will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday September 11, 2014 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City 4125 Orleans Avenue, with Rev. Dennis Knudsen officiating. Sandy was born in Sioux City, Iowa on February 24, 1947, the daughter of Leslie and Elizabeth “Faber” Neill. She attended Sioux City Community Schools and graduated from Central High School with the class of 1965. Following her graduation she worked for a short period of time for Golden Chick.
She was united in marriage with Richard Allen Poulsen on October 22, 1966 in Long Beach California, onboard the United States Ship Long Beach, where Richard was serving. To this union two children were born. Following Richards discharge the couple moved back to South Sioux City, where they made their home. After returning, Sandy became a food service worker for the South Sioux City Community Schools for 14 years.
Family was very important to Sandy; she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and all of her friends. She also enjoyed Shopping, playing cards, drawing, and listening to Elvis. Her favorite color was purple.
Her memory will always be cherished by her family which includes her husband of 47 years Richard of South Sioux City, her son Brian of Sioux City, and her daughter Amy Jo Barber and her husband Chad of Bronson, Iowa. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Chevaya and her husband Chad, Jesse, Cassy and her husband Clayton, Toni, Amanda, Cody, Dylan, Bailey, and Braden, and her great-grandchildren: Jamison, Sophie and one on the way. She also leaves many nieces and nephews,
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Mike Faber, a great- granddaughter Addyson Heins, her parents-in-law, and a brother-in-law John Franklin Poulsen.
