Samuel "Sam" E. Cunningham, 22, of Sioux City, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2016. A memorial service will be held 9:30 am, Friday, April 29, 2016 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave. A visitation will be held from 4-7 pm on Thursday, April 28, 2016 and again starting at 8:30 am to service time at the funeral home.
Sam was born on August 16, 1993, in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Raymond Cunningham and Dawn Young. He graduated from high school in Durant, IA in 2012. Sam was attending Morningside College in Sioux City, working on a double major in history and philosophy, and a cluster in psychology. At Morningside College, Sam was on the dean's list, the History Honor Society, and recently had a history paper published and presented. He was currently working at Chipotle in Sioux City.
Sam enjoyed playing video games and was known for heckling friends and family. It was very common to hear Sam having deep, philosophical discussion with anyone that would join him.
Survivors include his father, Ray Cunningham of Walcott, IA; mother, Dawn Young-Webb and her husband, Robert of Iowa Falls, IA; brothers, Andrew Cunningham and his fiance Karena of Syracuse, NE and Daniel Cunningham and his domestic partner, Stephanie Parker and her daughter, Sylvia of Sioux City; maternal grandparents, John and Donna Young of Mt. Ayr, IA; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Sam was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Clark and Marge Cunningham.
