Ruth A. Price, 83 of North Sioux City, SD passed away Monday, January 30, 2023, at a local hospital. Services will be held 11:00am Saturday, February 4, 2023, at the Heritage Baptist Church. Burial will be in McCook Lake Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held from 4-7pm with family present from 5-7pm and prayer service at 6pm Friday, February 3, 2023, at the Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Ruth was born July 18, 1939, in Chickasha, Oklahoma the daughter of Earl and Marie (Hackney) Johnson. She grew up in Oklahoma and graduated from Chickasha High School in 1957. Ruth decided at the age of 50 to further her education and attended South Dakota State University and received a Bachelor of Science degree and worked as a certified Dietician. Ruth many times joked about not only being a nontraditional student but also the oldest student in her class.

On May 21, 1957, she married Walter Price in Roscoe, South Dakota and they raised three children.  Ruth was an incredible caretaker for her two daughters who passed away at an early age.  In 1975 Ruth moved to Selby where her caretaking continued at the Good Samaritan nursing home. In 1999 Ruth moved to North Sioux City where she was employed at the Dietary Manger for the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska in Walthill, Nebraska.  Ruth’s main passion was cooking, and she always loved to teach other friends how to cook. Ruth also had a passion for quilting, and gardening, fishing, and hunting.  Ruth was a member of the Heritage Baptist Church.

Ruth is survived by her son Scott (Deb) Price, brother, Lonnie (Linda) Johnson, three grandchildren: Justice Price, Jerod Price, Jeremiah Price, and a great grandchild, Eliziah Price.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Walter, two daughters, Donna Price, Judy Price, sister, Judy Johnson, and two brothers, Bill Johnson, Kenneth Johnson.
