Ruth N. Morrice, 95, of Sioux City, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016 at her residence. Services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. A visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Battle Center Church Cemetery in Cushing, IA.

Ruth Naomi Morrice passed into heaven's glory by God's grace on September 18, 2016, in Sioux City, after a few months of illness.

She was born in Battle township in Ida County, Iowa, near Cushing.

After a farm girl childhood she graduated from Buena Vista University, Cherokee, Iowa.

She taught school, served as librarian, and taught art. in Battle Creek and Holstein, Iowa. She loved the children and always found innovative ways to bolster their confidence.

She spent a couple of years teaching at Brainard Indian School, Hot Springs, SD, where she connected with Native American youth as only she could. When back at home she was active in the Battle Center church.

She maintained the family farm place and relished in raising milk goats and giving a number of young people a chance to live with her and feel God's love flowing out to them.

She enjoyed backing those who help the needy around the world as well as supporting missionaries both in the homeland and overseas.

She spent her last years living in Sioux City, IA where she blessed the Mitchem family with her stories, helped with the animal chores (her favorite) and dishes. She was a shining example of intercession for missionaries everywhere.

She is preceeded in death by her father and mother, William and Maggie (Stoneking) Morrice, her brothers Douglas and Virgil Morrice, and her aunts El and Pearl Stoneking.
