Ruth Gillaspie, 82, of Dakota City, NE, passed away April 30, 2024 at Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE.  A funeral service will be held Monday, May 6th at 10:30 a.m. at Dakota City United Methodist Church.  Visitation will be Sunday, May 5th from 1-3:00 p.m. at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. Burial will be at Maskell Cemetery.

Ruth was born on January 18, 1942 in Belden, NE to Russell and Helen (Burson) Murphy.  She graduated from South Sioux City High School.  Ruth was united in marriage to Gary Warnock on July 23, 1961.  She later married Fred Gillaspie on April 9, 1994 in Dakota City, NE.  Ruth worked as a deputy treasurer for Dakota County for over 32 years before retiring.  Her faith was very important to her and she was a member of Dakota City United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed gardening, her flowers, playing cards, and was an honorary member of the Dakota City Fireman’s Auxiliary.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Fred Gillaspie; sons: Roger (Mary) Warnock, Rodney (Laura) Warnock, David (Shelly) Warnock; grandchildren: Casey (Amanda) Warnock, Jenifer (Jared) Getz, Katelyn (Cory) Birch, Nathan (Georgie) Warnock; great-granddaughter, Madysin Warnock and 1 on the way; siblings: Russell Murphy, Mary (Richard) Hartmann, Jean (Dwayne) Ryder, Betty Jorgensen.

She is preceded in death by her parents and first husband, Gary Warnock.
