Russell Criss, 72, of Westfield, IA, passed away May 23, 2024, at a hospital in Omaha. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a private family celebration at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service.
Russell was born on October 12, 1951, in Sioux City, IA to Arlie and Esther (Boardman) Criss. After graduation from Riverside High School, he joined the United States Air Force. He then worked for MidAmerican Energy for 44 years.
He had always wanted to own a farm since he was a young boy helping his uncle. He accomplished it and started raising Black Angus cattle. After his retirement he continued with his farming and cattle. Russell was a hardworking man, never seeming to stop. He loved being at the farm and around his livestock. He never turned anyone away if they needed help. Russell was a proud man, who also thought highly of his family. He enjoyed spending time with them, always making malts for the grandchildren when they stayed. He was one of a kind.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Kelly Criss; children: Kelli (Andy) Cloud, Erin June, Ashley (Trent Rodman) Ramm; grandchildren: Caleb June, Natalie Cloud, and Baylee Ramm; brother, Arnold Criss; father-in-law, Darnyl Ryder; and his spoiled dogs, Mya and Lainey.
He is preceded in death by his parents and mother-in-law, Roberta Ryder.
