Roxanne "Rocky" Marie Christiansen, 64, a beloved wife, sister, and aunt, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 13, 2025, in Sioux City, surrounded by her family, after a brave battle with cancer. A visitation will be held Thursday, July 17 from 4-7:00 p.m., with prayer service at 6:00 p.m. at Riverside Methodist Church. The funeral will be Friday, July 18 at 11:00 a.m. at church. Â Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.
Roxanne was the cherished daughter of Oscar and Josephine Johnson. Born on October 18, 1960, in Sioux City, IA. Roxanne was a beacon of love and light to all who knew her.
Roxanne is survived by her devoted husband, Dennis Christiansen, who was her partner in life and love. They were united in marriage on August 3, 1979. Their marriage was a testament to their deep bond. Together, Roxanne and Dennis enjoyed a life filled with unconditional love and joy, they celebrated 46 years of commitment to each other. They enjoyed attending countless concerts and their Sundays together at WinnaVegas, which became cherished traditions in their marriage.
A natural caregiver, Roxanne dedicated her life to helping others. Her compassion and nurturing spirit shined through in her work at Marian Health Center, Siouxland Residential, and local nursing homes. Whether caring for patients or family members, she embodied love and support, always putting others before herself.
To know Roxanne was to be loved by Roxanne. She had a unique ability to make everyone feel special and included. One of her most cherished traditions was hosting an annual family and friends' reunion, where laughter, stories, and love filled the air. Roxanne believed in the power of family and friendship, and her gatherings were a testament to the bonds that she so lovingly nurtured.
Roxanne's legacy continues through her husband Dennis Christiansen, her brothers Gary (Candy) Johnson, Dennis (Rhonda) Johnson, Joey (Brenda) Johnson, and sisters Linda Harshfield, Mary Ann Johnson, Debbie Johnson, Candy (Ronnie) Foster and Cheryl (Rudy) Velasco. She leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws who cherished their time with her and will carry her spirit in their hearts.
Roxanne's family would like to extend special thanks to the dedicated staff at UNMC for their care and support during her illness. The compassion and kindness shown by St. Croix Hospice allowed Roxanne to spend her final days surrounded by love, for which her family is eternally grateful. Roxanne was proceeded in death by her parents, Oscar and Josephine, her brother John Johnson and sister Diane Johnson, her in-laws Everett and Coleen Christiansen, special little angels, niece Hayley and nephew Ryan who have welcomed her into their heavenly embrace.
As we remember Roxanne Christiansen, let us celebrate a life filled with love, laughter, and giving. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be dearly missed but forever remembered as a shining light in our lives.
