Rosie Lavina Verdoorn, 83, of North Sioux City, SD, passed away unexpectedly December 7, 2025. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, December 16 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Jefferson, SD. Visitation will be from 9-10:00 a.m. at church. Burial will be at St. Peter's Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.
Rosie was born on March 3, 1942 in Sioux City, IA to Burbridge and Ella (Streeter) Beavers. She was one of 15 children. She grew up in Riverside and was united in marriage to Clarence “Peanut” Verdoorn on July 25, 1959 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. They were blessed with 5 children. Following their marriage, Peanut built their family home in North Sioux City and it’s where they continued to live. In her younger years Rosie enjoyed riding horses, ice skating, roller skating, dancing, and being a sun goddess while tanning. She worked as a hair model for Hair by Stewarts. Rosie's heart was as big as they come. She was known as Grandma to all. Rosie would always have a piece of gum and a hug for you. Her love was never-ending. Her greatest devotion was to God and prayer. She dedicated 32 years of her life to God and was very strong in her faith. Rosie traveled to Rome, Italy where she spent time in the Vatican City. She was the prayer line of the family, a true Angel from Heaven. Rosie was a blessing and will be missed by many.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Peanut Verdoorn; children: Teresa Verdoorn, Troy Verdoorn, Traci Verdoorn, Trisha (Tracy Combs) Verdoorn; grandchildren: Tanika, Clay, Sadie, Heidi, Drake, Lacey, Anthony, Justin and Nikki, several great and great-great grandchildren; and 7 siblings.
She is preceded in death by her son, Tony Verdoorn; parents; grandson, Rocky Hoffman; and 7 siblings.
